MULTIFUNCTIONAL SPORTS CENTRE

Task

To design the multifunctional sports purpose building taking into account solutions of the detailed plan, the configuration of the plot, the geographic orientation and projected pedestrian flows.

Solution

The building is designed shaping Dariaus ir Girėno street development. The universal square for city holidays and sporting events is designed in the south part of the plot. The square has a connection with the provided in a detailed plan pedestrian walkway connecting the existing school stadium and the future park in the centre of the block. Three functional objects – the pool, the ice arena and the universal hall are designed in separate, identifiable volumes. They are joined together by a common hall, transparent partitions and a partially transparent roof.
