Reconstruction of the barracks in Kaunas

Objective

The building in the Jaeger Battalion was built at the beginning of the 20th century as a part of the Kaunas Fortress, where the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the tsarist army was located. The aim is to complete major repairs of the cultural heritage building of ~3700 m2, which is in a state of disrepair.

Solution

The barracks of the Panemunė Barracks and the Military School building complex have been restored in the military campus in Kaunas. The work on the building was of the highest quality, in line with the 21st century NATO standards, while preserving and restoring the building’s destroyed valuable heritage features. This is an excellent example of the synergy between military and heritage conservation.
