Reconstruction of a school in Vilnius

Objective

The design of the 3-floor extension of ~4250 m2 is expected to increase the teaching capacity of the existing pre-gymnasium by 300 pupils.

Solution

The architectural volume of the extension is shaped to replicate the morphotype of the development of the pre-gymnasium building. The partitioned architectural volume is replicated, with an emphasis on blank walls, the roof type and the height. The design of the outdoor terrace on the first floor is intended as a gathering place for people and as a possible emergency escape route.
